Stepping Stones is a Christian Trust that has worked with ex-prisoners for more than twenty years, seeking to reduce the likelihood of re-offending by helping people move into their own home and get a decent job. Stepping stones encourages its residents to join a local church which will provide support and opportunities to build new relationships. The Trust has three houses in London - one specifically for sex offenders. Two local churches provide support and frequently voluntary work as well. There is also a role for volunteers in offering friendship. Many people feel nervous of ex-prisoners but most ex-prisoners need friends who can demonstrate that a crime-free lifestyle is a reality.
